Chestnut Tree Planting Guide
Once you’ve purchased your chestnut trees, follow this guide for planting instructions:
Depending on when you obtain your trees, leave them in the pot until at least October, when conditions are most suitable and recommended for planting.
While in pot, water the tree well enough to facilitate recoil from the pot.
Once you are ready to plant directly in the ground, you should dig a hole that is the same depth as the soil in your potted Chestnut, and twice as wide to facilitate root growth.
Place the tree into the hole and fill it back in with the native soil from the dig site.
Water thoroughly
No fertilizer is necessary at this stage
The trees will need to be watered based off of your unique soil’s moisture of your planting site.
If in an area where native animals are frequent, tree protectors are recommended, especially from deer.
Planting multiple trees is recommended for pollination purposes, with each tree being at least 20 to 30 feet apart from one another to allow the adequate pollination to take place.
